Despite the fact that most of us think of Michael J Fox as being an actor, he actually tends to focus more on his family. He has been married to Tracy Pollan for more than three decades and sometimes jokes that he feels like he has five children instead of four.
Fox believes it’s really important to be there for his kids as much as he can. In interviews where he shared parenting tips, he mentioned that if you take just a few minutes to ask your kids about their day and actually listen, they’ll end up talking to you for 15 or 20 minutes. He makes a strong effort to always be present for his children.
In 1991, everything changed for him when he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. In a 2009 interview, he talked about how much his kids mean to him. He learned to be more empathetic and resilient, focusing on what really matters in life.
Now that all his kids are grown up, they often appear on his Instagram. They share a really close family bond, and he openly expresses his love and care for them.
On Mother’s Day, he even wrote a special post for his wife, praising their children as beautiful, sensitive, smart, empathetic, independent, compassionate, and adventurous.
One of his kids, Sam Michael Fox, is his only son with his wife, born in 1989. Sam resembles his dad a lot and is currently working in the entertainment industry.
The couple has twin daughters. One of them went to Duke University, where she studied psychology, art history, and visual and media studies. Right now, she lives and works in Los Angeles. The other daughter focused on psychology and got her Master’s in Education from Harvard.
Their oldest daughter was born in 2001 and recently attended Duke University. She prefers to stay out of the spotlight, but sometimes you can catch a glimpse of her on Instagram.
Michael J. Fox has faced many challenges, especially after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, but that’s not his only struggle. His mother passed away in 2022, which was really hard for the family.
Despite everything, Michael J. Fox keeps working hard, both in public and behind the scenes. We wish him and his family all the best.
