Irish man issues warning to any Brits planning on moving to Australia after leaving just three weeks in

It often feels like everyone you follow on Instagram is deciding to just f**k it and move over to Australia.

With the working holiday visas recently making it easier for Brits to go Down Under, plenty of people decide to ditch the UK for the trip of a lifetime.

But as they flee the cold weather for the sun and sea of Aus, an Irish man has issued a warning to Brits making plans.

The lad from Northern Ireland shared a TikTok captioned ‘Goodbye Sydney’ as he’s leaving the country after just three weeks.

Jordan Morris and his pals have had to make backup plans after being thrown off by the situation in Australia.

“Think we underestimated just how difficult it is to get set up here in Sydney,” he explained. “After only three weeks, we are leaving the country.”

Morris said their ‘current situation’ was making it ‘incredible difficult’ for them to secure a place to stay long term.

“One of the lads is still back home in Northern Ireland, so we’re trying to secure a three-bed flat with only two people, and honestly, it’s just proven to be impossible,” he explained.

The friends had managed to get some temporary work on a building site which allowed them to build up some cash to get by for a couple of weeks.

They’re not totally throwing the towel in though, as they’ve booked to go to Bali for two weeks as he says it’s ‘going to be cheaper’ than staying in Sydney.

So, by heading to Indonesian province for a little while – even though it’s rainy season – they hope to save some money to be able to spend more time in Australia.

Morris’ video serves as a bit of a warning to Brits who may have thought it would be pretty easy to find somewhere to stay in Sydney and that the weather would be 24/7 amazing.

“You don’t have to go out in hoodies, you have to go out in jumpers,” he added. “But it has rained most of the days we’ve been here recently, and it was actually thunder and lightning storms. Last night, we got caught up in some torrential rain. Honestly, it’s absolutely crazy. I thought I was going to come here to sunshine every single day, but I suppose it still is spring.”

Once the lads have been to Bali, the plan is to secure temporary work until Christmas and then in the new year head to the East Coast.

“And after that, try and secure some sort of long-term work and somewhere to live long-term as well,” he added.

Research finds that the vacancy for rentals in Sydney this autumn has been very low with a pretty high average rent price.

Aussies echoed in the comments: “It’s seems a lot of people idealise Australia before coming here without truly understanding the reality.”

And loads of other expats recommended heading to Perth for both somewhere to live and work.

People swear they ‘feel younger’ after trying ‘magic’ gummies with a surprising ingredient

People swear they ‘feel younger’ after trying ‘magic’ gummies with a surprising ingredient

Here’s everything you need to know about ‘the miracle molecule’

There’s plenty of ‘miracle’ anti-ageing products out there, but these gummies might just be worth the hype.

NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide) is a bit of a buzzword in the world of anti-ageing at the moment. Or you might have heard of the abbreviation NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide). But don’t let those long and technical names put you off.

Both have quickly become a must-have with celebrities such as Joe Rogan, The Kardashians and Hailey Bieber reportedly big fans.

Orange County

And even though they’ve been hooking themselves up to NAD IV drips, there is a way for us to benefit from the supplement here in the UK and thankfully there are no needles or injections involved.

If you’re looking for an easy and tasty way to get some of the same benefits that the celebs have been getting, Orange County’s NMN Gummies have just hit the market. And when we found out that you could take what is thought to be ‘the miracle molecule’ in the form of gummies, we were certainly intrigued.

I mean, who wouldn’t want to take all their vitamins and supplements in gummy form?

Here’s what you need to know about the latest anti-ageing supplement and why it might be beneficial to you.

What is NMN?

First of all, it’s important to break down what NMN means and according to Healthline, “at specific doses, NMN supplements may help improve insulin sensitivity and heart function and reduce tiredness with few side effects.” But as with any supplement or vitamin that you might be thinking about taking, it’s a good idea to consult your GP or pharmacist before doing so.

NMN is a molecule that our bodies make naturally and while research is still ongoing, it is thought to help with brain and heart health, sleep, memory and a few chronic conditions.

And Orange County’s NMN Gummies make taking the supplement so much easier.

If you’ve ever struggled to swallow numerous chalky tablets as you try to take your daily vitamins and supplements, you’ll know how quickly that becomes rather off-putting and stops you from making it a part of your daily routine. Whereas, these mixed fruit-flavoured gummies definitely go down a lot easier.

The reason that the celebs have been flocking to try this particular supplement is the fact that it is reported to slow down the ageing process, with some claiming that it can slow down or reverse the natural signs of ageing such as hair thinning and loss and skin elasticity and firmness.

How much do the gummies cost?

The Orange County NMN Gummies are priced at £26.99 for a tub of 30 gummies. Or, you can save 20% on every order if you buy them via their subscription, making each tub just £21.59 or 80p a gummy.

And if you’re still not sure if they’re for you, they also have a 30 day money back guarantee, allowing you to try them out to see if you notice any difference to your overall energy levels and skin or hair.

Foreign Office issues 'strict' warning to anyone wanting to travel to Australia

Foreign Office issues ‘strict’ warning to anyone wanting to travel to Australia

If you can’t bring it with you, it’s going in the bin

Joe Harker

If you want to travel to another country, there’s always going to be a plethora of rules, restrictions and regulations you’ve got to follow.

It’s a simple process – you’ve got to jump through however many hoops each country holds up for you or you’re not getting in, either that or the airport bin is going to be seeing a lot of action before you board your flight.

Anyone heading off to the EU will know there’s a bunch of new things to be aware of after certain political developments of which we will not speak.

Meanwhile, if you’re wanting to head further afield to somewhere like Australia then you’d better make sure you’re clued up on all the goings on and rules to follow.

Of course if you’re planning a trip to Australia this summer remember that you’d be travelling to the southern hemisphere where things would flip around and you’d actually be visiting Australia in what is their winter.

Still, it’d be nice to get away to that far off land of sun, sea, sand, spiders and snakes.

Before you head off the Foreign Office would like to remind you that Australia has ‘strict quarantine rules to keep out pests and diseases’.

To make this work, you’ll need to fill out something called an Incoming Passenger Card and declare any goods which might break these rules.

Food, animal products and plant material all need to be declared, and plant material does include wood so you’d need to be careful if your holiday is actually a covert excuse to transport timber to the other side of the world.

If you don’t declare what the Aussies want you to mention then you could find your belongings confiscated and destroyed.

On top of that, if you’ll be asked to declare whether you’ve been to a rural area or been near or in contact with farm animals in the past 30 days.

Never again. (Fox)

Never again. (Fox)

The Australians take all this stuff very seriously, and it’s no surprise considering the ecological devastation they suffered in the 90s after Bart Simpson released his pet bullfrog and before long, a horde of ‘chazzwazzers’ were destroying everything in sight.

This might all sound like a bit of a rigmarole but it’s done to clamp down on the possibility of pests and diseases entering the country.

Wherever in the world you’re planning to travel on your holidays, it’s best if you stay up to date on all the latest travel rules, as you definitely don’t want to get caught out.

If you’ve always wondered what it would be like to live overseas, then the recent economic crisis in the UK has probably made you consider it a little more seriously.

After all, in the past couple of years, the cost of living has soared in the UK, interest rates have rocketed and the NHS is on its knees.

So if you were thinking of emigrating, well, who could blame you?

The likes of Australia and New Zealand have always been a popular choice for Brits.

And now, with the visa process a little easier, the prospect of staying long-term is a lot more feasible for those who fancy the change.

Whether moving temporarily or planning on staying for the long term, there are now more options.

The age limit for British nationals looking for a ‘working holiday’ visa has been raised up to 35, meaning that millions more people are now eligible.

This means that from 1 July 2024, British nationals will be able to live and work in Australia for up to three years.

There’s also been a change to the type of work that can be done, too.

Prior to this, anyone looking to come into the country on this particular visa had to commit to 88 days of agriculture work a year, which would need to be carried out for every additional year the person wanted to stay.

We all know someone who’s moved to Australia, absolutely loved it and ended up staying for years – if not permanently.

Data from Tourism Australia suggests that as many as 35,000 British people arrive in Australia each year on the working holiday visa and many of these people do choose to stay on.

In fact, since 2016, the number of people emigrating to Aus has been increasing every year.

According to the Office of National Statistics, 557,000 people emigrated from the UK in 2022, with 92,000 of them being British nationals leaving the UK.

It’s unsurprising really, especially when you consider the higher wages and better weather.

It can also be a popular choice for Brits due to the lack of language barrier.

Sally Cope, UK regional general manager for Tourism Australia, explained there’s been heaps of interest in travelling to Aus recently, thanks to some of the big sporting events, including the FIFA Women’s World Cup which took place last year.

“It’s an exciting time and these big sporting events, like the FIFA women’s football world cup and Olympics in Brisbane in 2032, offer the temporary contract type work that young visitors want,” she said.

The UK government has updated its official travel advice for those heading to France

The United Kingdom’s official travel advice for those heading to France has been updated with a fresh warning to those flying across the English Channel.

Every now and then, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) updates the UK’s official travel advice for every country in the world.

Little bits can be updated for any one of the world’s 194 other countries at any point, with matters concerning the likes of warnings and insurance and specific requirements to enter a country.

There’s also the latest information issued when it comes to safety and security of British nationals across the world, with warnings issued if Brits would be likely to be a target.

Health matters and risks are also highlighted by the Foreign Office, as well as the latest information on what you can do to get help if you’re already abroad and need assistance.

The update concerning France was issued by the Foreign Office on Friday (7 June) and lasts for the entirety of June with some issues expected to last up until September.

Basically, it could be potential bad news if you’re heading to the country and that’s because of continuous strike action in the country; specifically at French airports and ports.

“Throughout June, planned industrial action by port worker and air traffic control unions is expected to disrupt some ferry routes and flights across France, with some routes and flights diverted or cancelled,” the Foreign Office says.

“Check your operator’s advice before travelling, including where you are taking connecting flights.

“Until September, possible industrial action may cause disruption on the Paris public transport system (RATP). Check the RATP website for live service updates.”

The issue has had real world impacts already this month, with Ryanair having to cancel 100 flights in and out of Paris Beauvais Airport, which lies roughly 46 miles north of the city centre.

The company said on its website: “Since 2023, there has been 84 days of French ATC [air traffic control] strikes forcing airlines to cancel thousands of EU overflights from Germany, Spain, Italy, Ireland and the UK, while France in particular uses minimum service laws to protect French flights.

“This is unfair. France and all other EU states should protect overflights during ATC strikes as they do in Spain, Italy, and Greece.”

As always, check the status of your flight before travelling just incase.
