When we share our lives on the internet, we frequently expose them to criticism. People criticized this young couple for simply sharing photos with each other. However, their answer to the criticism is superb and serves as a sharp reminder of the significance of being a firm believer. Matt and Brittany Montgomery’s tale is not unique, but it is nonetheless fantastic. The pair met, fell in love, and began their life together.
While it may appear to be a regular circumstance, the couple’s experience is unique in that they are of different sizes. Brittany has struggled to find acceptance her entire life. She did not have a strong relationship with her parents, who were often dominating, and her dealings with them frequently left her feeling depleted. All of this caused her to have low self-esteem and body image.
Being plus-sized, she frequently encountered two types of men: those who wanted her to lose weight and those who fetishized her curves. These negative experiences caused her to want to stop dating and cut herself off to the prospect of love. But fate had something different planned for her! In August 2020, she connected with Matt Montgomery on Facebook. While their outward characteristics differed significantly, their spirits linked on a level never seen before!
Brittany admitted, “I was a little hesitant at first. I’ve been in relationships where guys threatened to dump me if I didn’t start dieting or trying to lose weight. It had an impact on my self-esteem, and at one time, I began working out and attempting to lose weight.” But the two of them were certain of each other and madly in love. Matt proposed on January 30, 2022, and the couple proceeded to plan their future together.
While they fully accept each other, they discussed how the world perceives their relationship. Matt told me: “People comment on Instagram and suggest that I’m not big enough or man enough for her.” He continued: “I do notice people staring when we walk down the street…” Despite the criticism they face for their relationship from those who do not understand their strong connection, the pair has nothing but love for each other.
Matt has previously had negative experiences with typically large women. Matt’s realization that Brittany is his genuine soulmate was motivated by the way she makes him feel. He embraces her for who she is and works on making her happy. He is not shy about publicly expressing his feelings for her; in a message for her, he wrote, “You are worthy, you are deserving of infinite love every single day and more.”
I know we are meant to be because I look at you and feel for you, and you look and feel for me.” His description shows others giving harsh remarks on the couple’s photos, implying that he loves his wife and that they have a relationship that extends far beyond the physical. What a strong answer to the bigots! The couple aims to eliminate the stigma associated with’mixed-weight’ relationships.
“I wish mixed-weight relationships were more common and more in the norm,” she told me. The young couple received their first child, Lakelyn, in March 2022, and just revealed that they are expecting their second child in September 2023. We wish them the best!
