Christine McVie, the 79-year-old singer-songwriter who contributed to many of Fleetwood Mac’s biggest hits, passed away in November, leaving behind one of the most beloved voices in music.
She passed away after a “short illness,” according to the musician’s family, who did not provide any other details at the time. At long last, we know what killed her.
Chris McVie’s demise
Christine Perfect, also known as McVie, passed away at the age of 79 on November 30, 2022. Tragically, she passed away after a “short illness” while surrounded by her loved ones, according to her family.
Christine was a revered musician and an extraordinary human being, and her life will be remembered by everybody who knew and loved her, the statement stated.
As part of their own statement, Fleetwood Mac praised her, saying that she is “truly one-of-a-kind, special and talented beyond measure.”
She was an incredible asset to any band and an even better friend to anyone who knew her. It was a blessing to share our lives with her. Christine was a treasure to all of us, and we are grateful for the wonderful memories we have of her. We will miss her terribly.
Each member of the band also sang a tribute to McVie. On January 9, Mick Fleetwood gave a tribute speech in her honor.
If the drummer’s Instagram post is to be believed, the band and the Fleetwood Mac family rallied around the hope that Christine would not be lost as soon as word got out that she might be in danger. “We still haven’t fully accepted the reality that Christine has really soared away” since her death.
Incredulous that people were canceling athletic events to honor her, I believe she would have been genuinely astounded by the global attention and celebrations of her music. But that was our Christine; she was authentically a country girl from the North who didn’t give a hoot about pretense. Christing, once again, was the giver of countless blessings to people all across the globe.
‘I want to be with you everywhere,’ her song says, and that is exactly what is happening: she is being remembered everywhere.
At their first show together since McVie’s passing on March 10, Stevie Nicks and Billy Joel both paid respect to the late bandmate. Meanwhile, a stunning slideshow of McVie performed her legendary song “Landslide” while Nicks sang.
“There’s really not much to say,” Nicks remarked after the show. To cope, I’m thinking, “Let’s act like she’s still here.”
The musician did mention that she was sick, but no other information was provided regarding the reason for her death or the health problems she was battling at the time.
Last year, McVie told Rolling Stone that she was not “physically up for it” if Fleetwood Mac reformed, and that the band had no plans to do so.
I am not doing well. Rolling Stone reported that she confided in the publication about her crippling chronic back ailment. The fact that I play the piano while standing makes me doubt that I would be physically able to accomplish it. May I ask what it means? Thoughts are willing, but deeds are feeble.
Discovered the reason for demise
The cause of McVie’s death was only recently revealed, months after she passed away.
The Blast received the singer’s death certificate and reported that she died of a “massive stroke” following a diagnosis of severe cancer.
An “ischaemic stroke” was stated as the primary cause of death on the certificate, with the cancer being classified as a secondary cause.
