After having her first son Isaiah in February 2015, Oklahoma-born Carrie Underwood revealed in an emotional interview that she had three miscarriages, leading to the distressing awareness that she’s “not in control of everything.”
“For my body to not be doing something it was ‘supposed to do’ was a tough pill to swallow,” she tells Women’s Health in a 2020 interview.
The singer, who rose to fame after winning the fourth season of American Idol, explains she found comfort in talking about her struggles with pregnancy, which she says is “not a dirty secret.”
“It’s something many women go through,” says the mother, who in 2019, welcomed her second child with husband Mike Fisher, a former hockey player with the NHL.
“Tiny hands and tiny feet…God has blessed us with an amazing gift! Isaiah Michael Fisher – born on February 27. Welcome to the world, sweet angel,” she wrote of Jacob on Instagram.
Even as a baby, Jacob – a clear momma’s boy – was calmed by the soothing sounds of his talented mother’s voice.
In a video shared on Facebook, captioned –“Baby Jacob seems to prefer Carrie Underwood’s singing over Mike Fisher’s” – fans can see that Jacob is not impressed by his dad’s attempts at carrying a tune.
Isaiah sings with mom
But It’s Isaiah whose vocal chops are impressing audiences.
In 2020, the “Blown Away” singer invited the child to sing with her on her first-ever Christmas album, “My Gift.”
Then only five, Isaiah made his singing debut on the track “Little Drummer Boy.”
“It was so great. When we recorded, I was able to be in the booth with him and encourage him and try to remind him what words were coming up next, things like that,” the Grammy Award winning artist tells People. “I got to listen to his vocals [get] put together and then listening to myself with him. I was laughing, and I was crying, and it was just very overwhelming in a good way. It’s just very emotional.”
‘Gym buddy’
And it’s Jacob who’s following his mother’s passion for exercise.
The “wannabe vegan,” who grew up on a cattle farm, is committed to health and wellness, and even launched her own app MyFitnessPal, a calorie counter that tracks progress toward “nutrition, water, fitness, and weight loss goals.”
“Physical fitness makes everything else possible,” says the singer, who also operates CALIA by Carrie, an activewear line. “I’d love to sit in a bubble bath, but that’s not going to happen. My self-care is my gym time, and that’s a stress reliever for me.”
With a fitness-committed mother and a father who’s a professional athlete, it’s no surprise that Jacob is starting to hit the workout moves early in life.
The “Cowboy Casanova” singer shared an adorable video on Instagram of her son Jacob, three at the time, “starting the day off right” with a high energy workout.
“The boys found one of my old Tae Bo DVDs in a box of things and Jake thought he’d have himself a little morning workout!” the mom captions the video. “I may soon have myself a gym buddy!”
In the clip, the tiny preschooler is seen wearing a white t-shirt and red sweatpants, eagerly trying to keep up with the Billy Blanks workout video, amusing his mother – the singer of “Jesus, Take the Wheel” – who’s recording from behind.
Fans couldn’t get enough of the precious little boy who starts by pulling his leg up with his hands until he’s comfortable enough to kick and punch without support.
Once he’s had enough, Jacob leaps onto the couch and out of the picture frame.
“Trying to be like Mommy, He is so adorable!” gushes one fan. Another remarks, “What a cutie! I could hear you trying to contain your laughter! Lol! Just makes you want to go in there and give him a big squeeze of a hug!”
Commenting on his initial leg pulls, another adds, “I love how he’s lifting his leg up by holding his sweatpants! So cute! God is so good!”
